Library Now Offers Text Alerts

Text Message on Phone Lying On a BookThe Glen Ellyn Public Library is excited to offer text message alerts for library cardholders. These text alerts allow you to receive notices about holds that are available on your account, items that are due soon, overdue or that can be renewed. The service is free, though standard messaging and data rates may apply.

Library Director Dawn Bussey talks about this new service with excitement. “Like many of our fellow public libraries, we know that it is increasingly important to help our patrons in convenient ways,” she says. “Email, social media and texting are perfect examples of what this means today.”

Signing up for the service is easy. Any existing cardholder may text “SIGNUP” to the email address Then, you will receive a short series of messages asking for your library card number and PIN (library account password). The service will ask for your email address, which you can provide, though the word “none” will suffice.
