The Glen Ellyn Public Library is proud to host John Huston, the first American to reach the North Pole unsupported, on Thursday, November 8 at 6:30pm on the library’s second floor.
Huston, who has been featured on CNN, NBC’s Today Show, The History Channel, and USA Today, will discuss his tales of survival during major expeditions through the North and South Poles.
Huston will reveal incredible secrets from his travels including how he hauled over 650 pounds of gear (food, cooking fuel, and navigational equipment) over 500 miles in 55 days while battling temperatures 50° below zero and how he consumed 7,000 calories per day, including deep-fried bacon and chunks of butter, to fuel his body.
