Local Business Leaders to Discuss How to Start Your Own Business on October 8th

GEPL News Black BannerThe Glen Ellyn Public Library is proud to announce a series of programs geared toward anyone who has ever considered working for themselves or starting their own business. The library has assembled an all-star collection of business leaders who will offer insight, advice and experience during the two part “Start Your Own Business Panel” series.

The first panel, scheduled at 7pm on Tuesday, October 8th at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, focuses on how to start a business from scratch. The panel features attorney Charles Wentworth of the Law Office of Lofgren & Wentworth, CPA Jeffery Waters, Will Grosch of Community Bank of Glen Ellyn and Wheaton, Rose Southard of Rational Technologies and John Hoffman of Community Insurance Group. The panel will provide an understanding of taxes, accounting and payroll, discuss how to secure loans and configure IT solutions, demonstrate how to determine legal ownership structure, and much more.

The second panel, scheduled at 7pm on Tuesday October 15 at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, will focus on local businesses, franchises and marketing. Jill Foucre of Marcel’s Culinary Experience, Terri Smith-Pfeiffer of Office Resource Solutions, Katie Cass of Massage Envy, Sandy Skibinski of Money Mailer and Mary Hanley of My Virtual Service will discuss why they decided to start their businesses, chronicle the steps involved and offer marketing strategies to grow clientele.

Glen Ellyn Public Library Board President John Mulherin will moderate both panels.

“The Start Your Own Business Panel is for anyone who has considered being their own boss or starting their own business,” says the program’s coordinator Mary Kay Akers. “Attendees will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to network with proven business leaders and ask legal and technical business-related questions. I am thrilled to present this program to the Glen Ellyn community and hope it can provide all entrepreneurs with an opportunity to realize their dreams!”
