Teens Blog: Winter Weather Reads

teens-blog-bannerWinter is definitely here.  You already know I’m a big fan of the blanket/hot chocolate/book combo.  To make things even more perfect, I thought I would suggest a few wintery, snowy books to get you fully in the spirit.  Because nothing beats having all the excitement of reading about cold wintry weather while enjoying all the comfort of warm clothes and hot drinks!

Cold SpellCold Spell by Jackson PearceCold Spell is a modern re-telling of Hans Christian Anderson’s classic fairy tale The Snow Queen.  Kai and Ginny have grown up together as best friends, and lately their friendship has blossomed into something more.  But when Kai runs off with a mysterious and cold woman, Ginny must set out into the winter to save him.

 

ShiverShiver by Maggie StiefvaterSam is a werewolf, a werewolf whose change is determined by the season.  All winter he lives as a yellow-eyed wolf, attracting the attention of Grace as he prowls her backyard.  When they meet over the summer, Grace recognizes Sam by his eyes and immediate familiarity, and is powerfully drawnto him.  But with winter coming, Sam and Grace must face the possibility of losing each other.

 

Book of DaresDash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan – In a wintery, Christmas-y New York, Lily has left a book of dares at her favorite bookstore, waiting for someone to rise to the challenge.  When Dash finds them, they begin passing the notebook back and forth all over New York.  But though they are brave enough to take each other’s dares, are they brave enough to face each other in person?
