Congratulations Laurie Gornik!
By: Dawn Bussey, Library Director
Laurie Gornik began her work at the old Glen Ellyn Library, which now houses District 87 offices, in the Adult Services Department until she decided to stay home with her growing family. She returned to work in the Circulation Department in a part-time capacity in October of 2002 and became a full-time employee in April of 2012.
Laurie’s responsibilities have changed over the years. She moved from an Adult Services Associate, to a Circulation Clerk, a full-time supervisor, Meeting Room Coordinator, and, most recently, Interlibrary Loan Coordinator where she is responsible for searching out titles that are difficult to find for our members, both within Illinois and across the country. She also acquires the selections requested by our over 65 book discussion groups, which is approximately 500 titles each month.
Laurie has also lent her impressive creative skills to special events at the library, such as Swinging through the Stacks and the upcoming Jungle Book Ball.
One thing that has remained constant is Laurie’s commitment to friendly, fair and personable service to our members as well as being a thoughtful collaborator and appreciated coworker.
Congratulations Laurie and thank you for your years of great service.Tags: Congratulations, Dawn Bussey, Employee of the Year, gepl news, Library Director
