Find an Item Not Owned by GEPL
We have a variety of means to assist you!
In the online catalog, make sure the drop-down menu says “All Libraries.” This will ensure your search will check all of the libraries in the SWAN consortium. You can use your Glen Ellyn Library Card to place a hold on the item(s) and choose your pickup library.
Is what you’re looking for a new item (usually defined as 3 months or newer)? The library is unable to request new fiction items from other libraries, but staff are always happy to consider your requests for purchase. You can contact the 2nd Floor Information Desk at 630-790-6630 or email@example.com. You can also suggest a purchase.
If the item is not owned by the SWAN consortium, click Other Library Catalogs, located under Library Information in the online catalog. You will be able to search Wheaton Public Library, Helen Plum (Lombard) Library, College of DuPage Library and other local library catalogs. You can use your Glen Ellyn card at any local library as long as you are in good standing (no fines and not expired).
Is the item you are looking for unavailable locally, and you’d like to research it yourself? Try searching I-Share, a catalog that represents several Illinois research and academic libraries, the Library of Congress or Worldcat, a catalog that represents libraries across the United States. You can place your own requests for an item on I-Share and Worldcat or you can contact the 2nd Floor Information Desk at 630-790-6630 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Staff can place an InterLibrary Loan for you and have the item sent to GEPL for checkout.
