Full time Adult Department Readers’ Advisory Librarian

Job Description:  Are you looking for a library where you can make a difference, where you can step outside the traditional Reader’s Advisory role? The Glen Ellyn Public Library is seeking a voracious fiction reader who will embrace responsibility for the leisure reading of the Glen Ellyn community. As an enthusiastic, motivated Readers’ Advisory Librarian, you will create and oversee programs and services for a varied community of readers both inside and outside the library.

You will be passionate about customer service and enjoy meeting the needs of our members by providing reference service on our busy Information Desk, using a variety of print and digital resources. You will develop several areas of our collection as well as assist our members with technology questions, computer tasks, and our new Media Lab. You will have a great sense of humor, an appreciation for the printed word and welcome technological innovation. If you have an inquiring mind, lots of ideas, and a willingness to do what needs to get done, then you need to apply!

Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week. Schedule includes one evening per week and weekend days by rotation. Full benefit package.

Requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited program. One year of library experience or professional public contract work preferred. Please email resume and cover letter.

Salary: From $21.78 per hour ($45,302 per year) /DOQ.
