Finding an item that is not owned by GEPL

Option A:

In the online catalog, choose All LINC Libraries from the drop-down menu in the first box at the top where Glen Ellyn appears. This will check all of the libraries in our LINC consortium. You can use your Glen Ellyn Library Card to place a hold on the item(s) and choose your pickup library.

Option B:

For new items (usually defined as 6 months or newer): the library is unable to request new items, but we are always happy to consider your requests for purchase. You can call the Adult Reference Desk (630-790-6630), email reference@gepl.org, or click Suggest a Purchase in the online catalog.

Option C:

If the item is not owned by a LINC library, click Other Library Catalogs in the online catalog. You will be able to search the Wheaton Public Library catalog, Helen Plum (Lombard) catalog, College of DuPage catalog and the catalogs of other local libraries. You will also be able to search I-Share, a catalog that represents several Illinois research and academic libraries, the Library of Congress catalog and Worldcat, a catalog that represents libraries across the United States.

You can use your Glen Ellyn card at any local library as long as you are in good standing (no fines and not expired).

You can place your own requests for an item on I-Share and Worldcat or you can call or email the Adult Reference Desk and we can place an Inter-Library Loan for you, where the item is sent to GEPL and you can check it out. The time that items take to arrive and the checkout time varies on these items.
