Open Books Open Doors

Recognizing the need to provide assistance to families of elementary school students in unincorporated areas with demonstrable economic hardship, the Library created the “Open Books, Open Doors” program, which subsidizes eligible families in unincorporated areas of elementary districts 41 and 89 with children in either district, through solicited private contributions. This scholarship option may also be available to families of elementary school students in unincorporated areas with demonstrable economic hardship as well as adults who have a valid Illinois LINK card. The Library has made possible the issuance of nearly 100 library cards since the creation of the program in 2002. Application forms and additional information are available at the Library or through your elementary school principal.
