Book Discussions @ GEPL
GEPL offers a number of book discussions each month. Here’s what our groups are reading in the coming months:
Adult Book Discussion
Join us to discuss a new title each month. Meets in the 3rd Floor Board Room:
- Wednesday, September 10, 2pm and 7pm: Don’t Talk to Strangers by Amanda Kyle Williams. P. I. Keye Street agrees to assist Sheriff Ken Meltzer in Whisper, Georgia, where the locals have no love for outsiders. Keye starts to piece together a profile of a killer is who stalks and plans and waits. When a third girl goes missing, Keye races against time to connect the scant bits of evidence. All the while, she cannot shake the chilling feeling: Something dark and disturbing lives in these woods–and it is watching her every move. Join us for a traditional discussion at 2:00 or a Skype session with the author at 7:00.
- Wednesday, October 8, 2pm and 7pm: Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed. A powerful, blazingly honest, inspiring memoir: the story of a 1,100 mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe–and built her back up again.
- Wednesday, November 12, 2pm and 7pm: Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson. This is the story of Trond Sander, a 67-year old man who has moved from the city to a remote riverside cabin only to have the turbulence, grief, and overwhelming beauty of his youth come back to him one night while he’s out on a walk.
Independent Book Groups
If you manage a book discussion outside the library, you can submit a request to have us gather copies of your latest book discussion title for pick up at the library.
