Description: Our busy department serves children from birth through 8th grade and their caregivers. Main duties will include assisting members of all ages at the Youth Information desk, providing readers advisory, assisting youth staff with library programs, and performing tasks related to our busy Summer Reading Program. If you’re looking to get on-the-job work experience in a Youth Department at a public library, this job is for you!
Hours/Salary: This temporary position averages 18 hours per week.
Position will start mid-May through mid-August. There are no benefits such as paid leave or insurance; and this job cannot be combined with another GEPL job to qualify for benefits. Rate is $11.36 per hour DOQ.
Requirements: Two years of college and experience working with children from birth through 8th grade. The successful candidate is enthusiastic, customer service-oriented, attentive to detail, has a working knowledge of current library technology, and has a positive, outgoing personality. Students working towards an MLS or LTA degree are strongly encouraged to apply.
