Automation Associate  |  Maintenance Assistant

Automation Associate

Full Time/Part Time: Part Time
Hours: 20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends
Salary: Starting salary $16.78 per hour DOQ. Benefits include pro-rated holiday, vacation and sick pay, plus participation in IMRF pension plan.

Position Description: The Glen Ellyn Public Library is seeking a certified network and Windows technician with recent Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Windows and A+ certifications to provide Information Technology support to library staff and patrons.

The Automation Associate will install, set up, support and troubleshoot:

  • Windows and Mac computers and Apple iPad
  • The library local area network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), wireless network (Wi-Fi) and network cabling
  • Cloud-based systems including Office 365 and Amazon AWS
  • Audio-visual equipment like laptops, projectors, and A/V cabling
  • Microsoft Office products
  • Active directory, DHCP and DNS

Requirements: Computer Networking-related Associate’s Degree. Current Associate’s Degree students at the junior level or above will be considered. One year of successful IT work experience or two years of Associate’s lab work. Proof of Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Windows and A+ certifications. Server and virtualization experience a plus. Ability to use analytical skills and Google for answers to moderately complex issues affecting networks, systems, and applications.

Familiarity with current network and computer security issues desirable. Ability to prioritize and work on multiple concurrent tasks and push them to completion. Ability to communicate effectively with library staff and patrons of all experience levels. Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders and run cabling over ceiling tiles are required. Ability to perform minor construction tasks: drilling, sawing, patching is required. Flexibility to include evening and weekend hours will be required.

Maintenance Assistant

Full Time/Part Time: Part Time
Hours: 22 – 28 hours per week, including evenings and weekends
Salary: Starting salary $11.36 per hour DOQ. Benefits include pro-rated holiday, vacation and sick pay, plus participation in IMRF pension plan.

Position Description: The Glen Ellyn Public Library is seeking an organized, detailed individual to perform selected grounds and building maintenance duties.

The Maintenance Assistant performs selected grounds and building maintenance duties which include but not limited to, picking up litter on library grounds, keeping supplies stocked in janitorial closets and staff areas, replacing light bulbs and ballasts, setting up meeting rooms for library and community meetings as well as repairing, painting and caulking library building exterior and outdoor equipment, cleaning selected areas of the library as needed, checking/replacing door alarm batteries. Distributing incoming deliveries to appropriate departments and individuals, running errands on behalf of the library. Gathering recyclable materials from departments, and making containers available for pickup. Assisting the Building Engineer with designated building projects.
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. Demonstrates ability to use tools, climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds
  2. Demonstrates working knowledge of Core Technology Competencies
  3. Demonstrates ability to make deliveries and pick up supplies within walking distance of the library
  4. Demonstrates effective verbal communications skills, in English
  5. Demonstrates good listening skills
  6. Pays attention to detail
  7. Organizes work

Qualifications: 1. Successful completion of two years of high school or its demonstrated equivalent; 2. 16 years’ old
