A Magical Night in the Jungle Raised Over $40,000 for the Glen Ellyn Library Foundation

The Glen Ellyn Public Library’s second floor was transformed into an elegant jungle, with anthills covered in giant, glittering ants, a menacing snake hanging from a light, and jungle-themed drapes that created cozy spaces for guests to mingle.
“The ball far exceeded my expectations,” said Dawn Bussey, Library Director. “It was amazing to see a cross-section of Glen Ellyn residents come together to support the library, from all different ages and all different walks-of-life.”
Guests mingled while enjoying fabulous food and cocktails. They were treated to a special Jungle Book virtual reality experience and jungle-themed mini-golf hole. But the live and silent auctions were the main attraction, with items ranging from pieces of jewelry to tickets to a Cubs game to vacation packages available for bidding. Auctioneer and MC, Police Chief Philip Norton, kept the live auction entertaining and energetic.
The Jungle Book Ball proceeds will result in the Glen Ellyn Library Foundation donating over $40,000 to help fund the Glen Ellyn Public Library’s upcoming remodel.
The remodel, which will begin in January of 2018, will create a new entrance and welcoming lobby area, consolidate Circulation’s workspace, reconfigure the large public meeting rooms, update the public restrooms, and add two new features: a drive-up window and a café.
“The ball created a lot of good will in the community,” said Bussey. “At the end of the night, guests walked away with some unique items and experiences, smiling and talking about the wonderful evening. We couldn’t have asked for a better night.”Tags: news
