Royally Good Reads

In case you missed it, there was a royal wedding that took place recently. Prince Harry married Meghan Markle, or as the Chicago Tribune tweeted “Northwestern Graduate Marrying British Guy.” It was an exciting and beautiful ceremony to watch. I definitely had fun watching all the celebrities arrive, eventually followed by the bride.
If you have a young royal fan at home, they were probably excited about the royal wedding too. What a great time to discuss British history or the British monarchy, or to plan a future trip to England. We have lots of books on all those topics! Or try a princess book! The Royal Diaries is a series that tells the stories of different princesses throughout history. The Princess Academy is a surprising take on what it means to be a princess. The False Prince is a great title for older readers about a kingdom searching for a young man to impersonate the real prince.
For younger readers, try The Princess in Black (hilarious and fast-paced) or Angelina and the Royal Wedding (of course). Fly Guy fans will enjoy Prince Fly Guy which shows Fly Guy in a more royal role.
If you watched the royal wedding simply to see the wedding dress Meghan Markle wore, check out this book on wedding dresses.
