Early Intervention Screenings

You are your child’s first teacher. You are the expert on your child. You know them best. Although children are known to grow at different rates, most follow certain milestones. It’s normal to be concerned if your child doesn’t hit a milestone on time. So how do you know if your instincts are just a feeling or might indicate a developmental delay?

Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley have partnered with us to bring early intervention screenings to the Glen Ellyn Public Library. Screenings will be available from 9:30 – 11 am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, March 12-14 during Smart Starts.

We asked Michael Krupka, Community Marketing Coordinator for Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley, to answer some questions about early intervention screenings.

How does Easterseals DuPage stand out from other organizations that support those with disabilities?

At Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley, more than 1,000 children come through our doors each week. We believe in their abilities, help them achieve their goals and celebrate their progress every step of the way. With leading experts across specialties and diagnoses, Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley is where families find clear answers and a community of support, so their children can realize their full potential.

Our core services for infants and children include physical, occupational and speech therapies, and assistive technology therapy, medical nutrition services, audiology, behavior therapy, developmental evaluations, social services, a child care center, specialty clinics, and a continuing education program.

When should a parent have their child screened?

Parents and caregivers can screen their little ones as early as two months through 66 months of age at askeasterseals.com.

What is involved with the All Ages and Stages Questionnaire?

The Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3) is a tool that identifies delays and celebrates milestones. The ASQ-3 screening consists of 30 questions specific to your child’s development based on their age. Areas covered include communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and personal-social. The questionnaire takes about 10 minutes to complete.

ASQ-3 is provided to you, free of charge, by Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley as part of a collaboration with the Glen Ellyn Public Library. Results will be printed and delivered to you before the end of your screening.
