The Librarian Recommends: Spring Picks 2019

Spring is here and so are some amazing new books! Here are a few of my favorite new releases:

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid: I can’t recommend this book enough for fans of contemporary fiction and behind-the-scenes music stories! Daisy Jones is a talented and beautiful singer/songwriter; Billy Dunne and his band, The Six, are rock stars on the brink of fame. When they team up, they become one of the most popular bands of the 70s. Told in a unique, interview-style dialogue, Reid’s novel is addictive and atmospheric with unforgettable characters. If you liked the movie Almost Famous, you’re going to love Daisy Jones.

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides: I have an addiction to psychological thrillers, especially when they’re set in the UK! The Silent Patient is the best one I’ve read so far this year. Alicia Berenson is an artist who hasn’t spoken a word since being convicted of murdering her husband. Now living in a psychiatric facility, her psychotherapist Theo is determined to unravel the truth behind Alicia’s story. Full of shocking twists, you won’t know what to believe until the dramatic ending. I highly recommend the audiobook—check it out on OverDrive .

Karamo: My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing, and Hope by Karamo Brown: If you’re a fan of Netflix’s Queer Eye, you won’t want to miss Karamo’s heartfelt memoir. The culture expert discusses his Southern childhood, struggles with addiction, and current role as a single father of two sons. With his trademark empathy, wit, and style, Karamo shares his life story and offers advice for being your best self. (Pro tip: For more Queer Eye memoirs, keep an eye out for Tan France’s Naturally Tan in June and Jonathan Van Ness’s Over the Top in September).
