Arts and crafts. There are people who hear these two words and the creative juices just start flowing. I hear these words and to be honest, it gives me a little bit of anxiety. I am not the creative type. I might be able to come up with an idea but figuring out how to execute it is a different story.
We have numerous craft books here at the library and I do find them helpful. Many will give you step-by-step instructions to achieve the desired result. That doesn’t necessarily mean it will look exactly like the picture (in my case, I can guarantee it won’t), but I will have been given enough guidance to be happy with the finished product.
Next week, the library is hosting a Family Art Night for every type of crafter. We will provide paper, markers, crayons, scissors, glue, etc. You can use the supplies to make something you dream up or Helen Shafton, Glen Ellyn art teacher and author, will provide examples to help you create something in the way of architecture, drawing, painting, or even a sculpture building with Post-It notes.
Dress for a mess! Kids of all ages and abilities are welcome to drop in on Tuesday, July 30 from 6:30-8 pm .
