The Friends of the Glen Ellyn Public Library and the Glen Ellyn Library Foundation presented a $2,000 check to benefit the Glen Ellyn Park District Scholarship Fund at the Park District’s Board Meeting on Tuesday, September 17, 2019.
This donation concluded a successful partnership between the library and the Park District during the library’s 2019 summer program, Game On! Summer Challenge.
Students ranging in age from pre-kindergarten through high school, adults and staff members came together to accumulate a grand total of 88,680 points earned by reading, watching, listening, playing and attending events, which surpassed an initial 50,000-point goal for the two-month program.
Signature activities included a StoryWalk® with Pete the Cat, Goat Yoga, a Frozen Custard Social featuring Andy’s Frozen Custard, Community Game Night, and several sessions of Storytime in the Park.
The Glen Ellyn Park District Scholarship Fund was created to provide families in need of financial assistance with the opportunity to participate in Park District activities. Each year, the Scholarship Fund makes it possible for hundreds of residents to enjoy Park District facilities as well as participate in camps, sports, lessons and fitness programs.
