I am a homeschooled 7th grader and I am reviewing The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings (a three-book series: The Fellowship of the Ring , The Two Towers and The Return of the King ). I loved them! J.R.R. Tolkein knows how to add the right amount of adventure. In each book, there is a great balance of excitement and adventure, but also a sense that there is no place like home. These thrilling novels not only have a hair-raising plot, but also demonstrate virtues of friendship, courage, obedience, and bravery. Perfect for summer, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series are family classics! Great for a family read-aloud or a private adventure, these books are enjoyable for everyone.
I give these books five stars. They are great for readers who likes adventures and thrills, or really anyone who likes books!
