Repeatedly

Why do we re-read books and re-watch movies?  Familiarity is comforting.  There are so many books, movies, and activities to do for the rest of our lives.  It’s never a waste of time to find comfort in things you’re familiar with.

Some benefits of re-reading:

  • catch something new
  • find comfort and stability
  • re-live good memories
  • you’re reading!

One of my favorite books to re-read is A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle.

It’s a story about Meg and her brother Charles Wallace uncovering clues to find their missing father.  Introducing sci-fi concepts like traveling without moving sounds heavy, but the author explains it for younger (and older) readers to understand.  Other worlds continue to fascinate me and it never disappoints to revisit them.

One of my favorite movies to re-watch is Tron , from 1982.

I can’t believe this movie is almost 40 years old.  I remember watching this as a youngster, being transported to a digital world of light cycles and using discs as storage but also as a weapon.  Wow!

What do you like to re-visit?

Thanks for reading and see you next month!
