Grab ‘n Go Library Services

Visitors can enter the building for 30 minutes to select and check out materials using the self-checkout machines. Visitors may also use the computers, printers, copier, and scanner.

While in the library, please comply with our Temporary Face Coverings Policy.

  • Wear a face covering over your nose and mouth
  • Maintain a safe social distance of six feet from others

To help ensure visitors’ safety,

  • Staff will be sanitizing frequently touched surfaces
  • All chairs, tables, and toys have been removed from public areas
  • The number of visitors will be limited to help ensure safe social distancing. You can view the current library occupancy online any time.
  • Visitors with questions are encouraged to call 331-251-8609 for assistance.

Grab ‘n Go Library Services does not include holds, so please continue to use the drive-up window if you have been notified that you have items ready for pickup.

Drive-Up Window

The drive-up window is open for members who have been notified that their items are ready to be picked up only.

Virtual Meeting Rooms

GEPL cardholders who need to gather a group that can’t meet in person are invited to use our Virtual Meeting Rooms. Virtual Meeting Rooms are provided through Zoom and allow groups of up to 100 people to see and hear each other on a computer or mobile device.

Virtual Meeting Room users must agree to our Virtual Meeting Rooms policy. Virtual meetings include a GEPL Concierge who will start and sit in on the meeting, provide technical assistance, facilitate screen sharing, monitor for Zoom-bombing, mute and unmute participants, and end the meeting. Please talk to a GEPL Librarian at 331-251-8609 or email if you have questions about this new service.

Borrowing Materials

If you are a Glen Ellyn Public Library cardholder, you may place holds on up to five (5) items owned by the Glen Ellyn Public Library. We will use the email or phone number on your account to notify you when the requested items are ready to be picked up at the drive-up window. To ensure that you receive notifications, please verify the email address on your account. You may also place holds by contacting the library.

Resource sharing with other SWAN libraries will begin Wednesday, August 12. Card holders will be able to place holds on items from other SWAN libraries and items will travel between SWAN libraries.

You can return items to the external book drop near the PODS at any time. Returns will be stored for four days before they are checked in. Returns will not be accepted at the drive-up window.

Book Donations

Book donations may be made to the Friends of the Library by appointment only. Please call 630-790-6765.

Due Dates

Items checked out after May 19 have a loan period of four weeks, regardless of material type, and may renew up to five times.

Safe Handling of Library Materials

Library staff wear masks and practice current CDC hand washing guidelines when handling library materials. We note the date and time materials were last handled on items picked up at the drive-up window.
