Kindness Club: eCookbook cover pageWhen I think about all the cookbooks I own, the one I reach for first is a three-ring binder with an unremarkable well-worn front cover; however, its contents reveal a different story. The recipes I have collected over the past 40+ years include my grandmother’s Italian chocolate frosted cookies, my friend’s playgroup granola bars, a former student’s Indian Aloo Gobi, and my neighbor’s Lithuanian beet salad. This special cookbook serves as a visual reminder of how recipes can be a connection to diverse local and global communities.

Now more than ever, we are looking for ways to connect with each other. Therefore, this month’s Kindness Club focused on a project with a purpose that was twofold: (1) to connect with community while (2) spreading a little kindness along the way. The Kindness Club asked for recipe donations from our youngest community chefs, and they answered the call! The recipes have been compiled into an eCookbook, which is now ready to download for your enjoyment. The eCookbook is free to access; and to encourage kindness and compassion to others, any monetary donations (suggested but not required) will go toward the library’s Compassion Fund.
