Journaling

Last month I had a Middle School program – “New Year, New Journal” which was awesomely attended! One of the things I discussed was the why journaling is beneficial.
  1. Improve your writing.
A great way to improve your writing skills is simply to write! One way to achieve this is with a journal. Don’t feel tied down to the idea of “I have to write every day.” This shouldn’t be a chore. Write when you’re in the mood. Daily prompts can help with a routine. Remember, you set the rules.
  2. Keep track of important decisions.A journal can be a valuable tool to remind you of the important decisions you’ve made. Chronicling your history is important to remind you where you’ve been and how far you’ve come. That group project that you all rocked on – write about what worked effectively so you know what to look forward to the next time you’re in a group.
  3. Be creative.
Use images from magazines or websites and put them on the pages. Doodle, sketch, draw, and paint too. Make your personal projects fun and creative with colors and textures. Recycle fabric and make that as a border for some of your pages. Journaling is more than just words!

Thanks for reading and see you next time!
