Joe Halter, IT Director, has been named 2020 Library Employee of the Year as part of the Glen Ellyn Community Awards.
Hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, the Glen Ellyn Community Awards recognizes the best of what and who makes Glen Ellyn wonderful. Each year, honorees are determined by nominations submitted through a publicly accessible form on the Chamber website.
“The Glen Ellyn Public Library has a great staff, board, and community. It’s my pleasure to serve them by meeting their technology needs,” Joe said. He enjoys providing tools and training to help individuals increase their productivity, especially amidst an isolating pandemic.
“From the very day that we had to temporarily close our doors last March, Joe has put service at the forefront of his efforts,” said Dawn Bussey, Library Director. “Without delay, he extended the Wi-Fi signal in our parking lot for the community and set up laptops and hotspots so staff could effectively work from home.”
Joe also enthusiastically rose to the challenge of reimagining library services during COVID-19. “He was the creative mind behind our remote Call Center and Virtual Meeting Room initiatives,” added Bussey. “His dedication to customer service, both for the public and fellow colleagues, is simply unmatched.”
This year’s ceremony will be in a virtual, pre-recorded video format. Stay tuned for the release date to be announced in March.
