Look and Learn

Did you know that the Taj Mahal was built by an Indian emperor as a gift for his wife? Or that the Great Wall of China is more than 13,000 miles long? That means if you walked 1.5 miles an hour, it would take you 353 days (about 11 and a half months) to walk the entire Great Wall of China! That’s a lot of Fitbit steps!

These are just a few of the interesting facts you can read in the Look and Learn display. Until member collections return, we have created an educational display called Look and Learn in one of the cases that will feature science experiments, artifacts, insects, and more!

Last month we watched the magic of hydroponics to see how quickly herbs grow in nutrient-packed water. In conjunction with 2021 Summer Reading: Read to Color Your World, the Look and Learn display will feature landmarks and cultural items. Stop by to be amazed at the skillful architectural designs displayed in miniature form and learn the story behind these iconic structures and other cultural treasures.

You can continue to expand your global knowledge with these other great library resources, too!

So take a peek at our new Look and Learn displays and travel the world. View the Great Wall of China, the Eiffel Tower, and the Sydney Opera House without ever having to pack a suitcase.
