For the past six years, the Glen Ellyn Public Library has tied its summer reading program to a philanthropic cause, embracing the volunteer spirit of the community. This summer, the library is thrilled to partner with the Glen Ellyn Park District and bring you Game On! Summer Challenge.
Youth and adult participants will work toward a combined goal of 50,000 points. If we reach our goal, the Glen Ellyn Library Foundation and the Friends of the Library will donate $2,000 to the Glen Ellyn Park District’s Scholarship Fund.
Register as a Pre-Reader, Youth, Middle Schooler, High Schooler, Adult, or for the Adaptive Program.
Pre-Readers, Youth, and Middle Schoolers
- Sign up for Game On! Summer Challenge online and come in to the library to pick up a game board in the Youth Department. You can also sign up at the Youth Desk.
- Use your game board to play Game On! and track what you read, watch, and play!
Adults, High School students, and participants in the Adaptive program
- Sign up for Game On! Summer Challenge online.
- Track what you read, watch, and play online and earn points toward rewards and our goal!
For the first time ever, participants will be able to count films, magazines, newspapers, and activities to earn points. Youth may also count any type of game. You can complete tasks around the library, such as finding and using the new Short Story Dispenser or searching a digital resource.
Registering for the Adaptive Program will allow users of all ages to earn points through supportive activities, whether classic reading goals, cooking, or exercise. Each completed item gets a point, and each point is a step closer to our goal.
High school students can earn gift cards to Amazon and Starbucks. Youth can earn books and coupons. Adults can earn entries for grand prizes like two gift cards to Dick’s Sporting Goods ($100), two gift cards to The Bike Hub ($100), and two one-year memberships to The Morton Arboretum.
