Congratulations and Thank You Readers!
We have surpassed our goal of 25,000 points and the Friends of the Library and the Glen Ellyn Library Foundation will each donate $1,000 to the Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center!
June 1 – August 7, 2020
Register for the Paint Your Story: Summer Reading Challenge! This year, we are challenging the Glen Ellyn community to achieve a combined reading goal of 25,000 points! Registration and logging for the summer reading challenge will be digital, and logging your progress online will award points for all of your summer reading!
If we reach our goal, the Friends of the Library and the Glen Ellyn Library Foundation will each donate $1,000 (for a combined $2,000) to the Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. You can also support GECRC by purchasing a book for their library collection. All gifts are tax-deductible, and the items will be shipped by Amazon directly to GECRC.
Summer is a great time to focus on reading and discover new ways to communicate the story of your Summer 2020 through art! The Youth Department will have Weekly Art Challenges that will keep kids flush with creative ideas.
As you read and create, help us showcase the ways you Paint Your Story by submitting photos for our digital art gallery! Email photos of your original creations to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will share them on our website.
To register, download the Beanstack Tracker app on your mobile device or visit gepl.beanstack.org and look for the Paint Your Story: Summer Reading Challenge for the appropriate age. If you are not able to register and log your progress online, please email email@example.com for assistance or call 331-251-8609.

Read books and magazines and watch videos to earn program points and badges toward $5 gift cards to Amazon and Starbucks! The more you log, the better your chances of winning a grand prize: one of three $100 gift cards to Blick Art Materials. Complete at-home DIY projects and safe social distancing activities like baking and exercising for additional points and badges.
Youth (readers entering 8th grade and younger)
Register, complete reading minutes, and log progress online. Participants will receive rewards for 5, 15, and 25 hours of reading. In addition, your child can track their progress by coloring in one circle for every 15 minutes that they read on the paper reading log included in the summer issue of The Guide. One circle = one point toward our goal! If you are not able to log your progress using the Beanstack Tracker app on your mobile device or on gepl.beanstack.org, after coloring all 100 circles, email the name of your reader with subject “100 Reading Circles Complete!” to firstname.lastname@example.org to receive a prize!
Each week of the program, there is an optional Art Challenge. Weekly art challenges use supplies you may have at home and include DIY instructions. Participants can complete the challenge and log the activity in the Beanstack Tracker app or on gepl.beanstack.org for a chance to win a prize. There will be drawings for prizes on the following Mondays: June 22, July 13, and August 10.

Participants of all abilities are eligible for the Adaptive program, inspired by the Special Education departments and students of Glenbard South and West, with input from the Connection of Friends of Wheaton.
