Star Wars Reviews Series (2 of 4)
Ciena Ree and Thane Kyrell grew up dreaming of the day they would be flying among the stars for the Galactic Empire. After being accepted into the imperial cadet school on Coruscant, Thane and Ciena are torn between their friendship and being the top cadet in their class. Their rank fight causes them to go separate ways, and they lose contact. After graduation, Ciena and Thane are separated for many years. When they reunite, their long distance makes them realize their true love for each other. When the war begins and the Death Star is destroyed, Ciena and Thane begin to notice that their opinions of the deadly Empire are extremely different. When Thane realizes he can’t serve for something so terrible, he runs away leaving Ciena and the Empire in the past. Years later, Ciena and Thane are on opposite sides of the war. Thane has joined the Rebel Alliance and Ciena has become an imperial captain on a Star Destroyer. When whispers of the Empire’s fall reach the rebels and Thane encounters Ciena attempting to save the Empire, Thane is conflicted. Although Ciena is fighting for the very thing he swore to destroy, how can he abandon someone he loves?
Lost Stars is without a doubt my favorite Star Wars book! It is the perfect mix of the typical Rebels versus Empire found throughout Star Wars, a bit of romance, and lots of action. Personally, I found it very interesting getting to watch as the imperials watched the Empire turn to a sinister and corrupt system trying to take over the galaxy. I would definitely recommend this book to fans of the original trilogy, and those who love witnessing the fight between the Empire and the Rebels.
