From Alaska to Maine, Vancouver to Miami, as well as the Library of Congress, Glen Ellyn Public Library cardholders can receive books from libraries throughout the U.S. and Canada thanks to Interlibrary Loan. At any given time, between 400 and 500 books are in circulation through Interlibrary Loan.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows cardholders to borrow books or receive photocopies of documents that are owned by another library. Please see our Reference Services Policy for more information.
ILL searches a broad catalog of public and academic libraries throughout the world. Although books and journal articles are the most frequently requested items, some libraries will lend audio recordings, video recordings, maps, sheet music, etc. If an item is not available through the online catalog, ask a staff member to request the item from another library through Interlibrary Loan or visit WorldCat to request the item yourself. Please make sure your request is as complete as possible. Items may take a week or longer to arrive at the Glen Ellyn Public Library. The delivery time depends on the lending library and how quickly they locate the item.
You will be notified by telephone or email when the item is available for you to pick up. Items not picked up within a specified time will be returned to their library.
