As part of the library’s mission to serve the community, and because the library is a designated warming center where people can come to find safe refuge from extreme weather, the library has recognized an opportunity to provide some unique community services. The Compassion Fund currently

provides vouchers for use at The Cafe to Glen Ellyn Walk-In Ministry
helps provide supplies for the Community Cupboard

Community Cupboard

The Community Cupboard is a door-less cabinet in the lobby near the Library Services Desk that contains free items available to anyone who needs them. Available items vary depending on donations. The containers are intentionally not labeled, and the bins are clear so that people can identify the contents. People are encouraged to help themselves to items they need.

The Community Cupboard is totally donation based. No tax money is used to purchase the free items in the Community Cupboard.

Sponsor

Organizations can sponsor the cupboard by committing $250 or more in monetary donations or donated items. The library acknowledges sponsoring groups on its social media and with a sign in the cupboard during the sponsorship month.

Inquire about Sponsorship

Honor someone on any occasion by donating a book to the library in their name. The library will affix a personalized bookplate to the book(s) added to the collection using your donation.
