Star Wars Reviews Series (3 of 4)
After escaping order 66, Kanan Jarrus, formally Jedi Padawan Caleb Dume, has been traveling the galaxy alone and taking any job available. But when he meets a beautiful rebellious Twi’lek on the planet Gorse, his plans change immediately. Even though Kanan has tried to make his way through his adulthood as unnoticed as possible, he can’t turn down the opportunity to cause some trouble and help stop the Empire. Hera Syndulla, a young Twi’lek spy for the Rebel Alliance, was visiting Gorse when a rumor had begun to spread about the Empire’s presence on its moon, Cynda. The growing Rebel Alliance had heard about a mining expedition on the planet, but the reason for the mining is top secret. As Kanan and Hera attempt to find out the real reason for the Empire’s mining, the moon Cynda experiences a massive explosion, causing the destruction of a large portion of the planet. After witnessing this tragic event, Hera and Kanan discover that the Empire is planning on blowing up the entire planet for an unknown mineral. But why would the Empire need to risk the lives of the citizens on the planet for some mineral?
For fans of Star Wars animation, this novel is a great prequel to the tv show, Rebels. It is definitely more action packed than other Star Wars books I’ve read, and I enjoyed that. But don’t worry… there’s a bit of romance in this book as well! Set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, this is the perfect book for fans of the tv show, Rebels, and those interested in witnessing the Empire rise to power.
