With all of the construction on the 2nd floor, library staff have been getting lots of questions! Here are some answers to the most popular queries from visitors during the reconfiguration.
What is changing?
The library is adding new services and access to technology by creating a community makerspace, improving service access by re-configuring the 2nd floor Information desk, and responding to the community need for more study rooms by creating new enclosed study spaces.
To prepare for these improvements, books, games, CDs and display units are being relocated until their new locations are ready.
Are you getting rid of books?
Books, games, CDs, and display units are being moved as needed to make way for construction, but this has not changed the library policy that specifies when items are removed from collections. It is ongoing library policy to continuously evaluate collections and remove items that haven’t been used in three years or more, are in bad condition, or no longer contain up-to-date information. Items removed from the library collection are donated, sold, or recycled.
If there is something that you can’t find, or if you are interested in a new, relevant title, please ask at a service desk or Suggest a Purchase online. The library’s goal is to maintain a current, thorough, diverse collection that covers all the essential topics visitors are looking for.
How can I find items during the remodel?
Please ask at a service desk for help finding any items that may have been temporarily moved. During the construction to re-configure the Information desk, a service desk will be temporarily located east of the stairs near the Hot Picks and magazines.
Will you still have computers for people to use?
Yes! Several public computers and 15-minute print station are available on the 2nd floor. Laptops are also available for use in the library. If you have trouble locating the public computers, please ask at a service desk.
Visitors can also print, copy, scan, and fax on the 2nd floor.
