The Workshop is a makerspace – a place to create, discover, and learn. Got an idea for a project, or looking for inspiration? Staff in The Workshop can help you get started! Equipment use is free for Glen Ellyn Public Library cardholders and library cardholders who have reciprocal borrowing privileges at Glen Ellyn Public Library, but you might need to purchase materials.
Makerspace laptops and the laminator do not require appointment bookings.
The Workshop has a maximum capacity of eight users. If the maximum capacity is reached, users who do not have an equipment reservation and guests accompanying users with equipment reservations may be asked to step outside.
Most maker projects require using a computer. For this reason, the following skills are very helpful:
- ability to use a keyboard to copy and paste
- ability to use a mouse to double-click and left-click, click-and-drag and highlight text, and scroll
- ability to navigate file directories
- ability to open, rename, and edit files
- ability to use a flash drive
- patience to use a computer for up to an hour
The library highly recommends our Tech Help Drop-In programs and digitallearn.org for anyone who would like to enhance their computer skills.
The library makes every effort to ensure that programs can be enjoyed by all. If you have any concerns about accessibility or need to request specific accommodations, please contact the library.
