1130. Many thanks for drop-in tech support on August 9, 2025. With assistance I was able to get an obituary of my 103 beloved Aunt June. It would not print out the entire obituary. _____ used their magic logic to get a user-friendly document to print a readable copy. They also got my 24-page documented roof problem to print. Printing is easier for an older disabled person like myself @ the Glen Ellyn Public Library.

1132. Using AI Tools program. Great topic! I was disappointed with this presentation. I found it to be too short, and I only learned one small thing. I had expected a few examples of starting new prompts, rather than popping in and out of prepared samples.

1136. Please stop parking the Library Van in the charging station stall.
The van is electric and needs to be parked there to recharge. It is also often parked there for staff to load and unload items to and from the van that they are taking to outreach events in the community.
1137. _____ joined the troubleshooting effort of the printer not printing a 40+ page document on roof payment problem. I very much appreciated their problem-solving suggestion of printing in a smaller batch. Great idea! Thank you.

1140. Why Glen Ellyn not offer free copy like Glendale Heights? They offer free copy as you need. Also, GE property tax is much higher than surrounding area. Wish have computer class for senior.
We have considered eliminating the charge for printing and copies but are concerned we will not be able to keep up with the cost. We now provide one on one computer training rather than classes, so we can address the technological needs of each individual.

1127. Many thanks and praise for helping me renew my computer skills. I had to write a 22 page roof insurance problem. A company with now 15 BBB complaints needs to see the documentation of my reroofing. The adult department staff deals with many issues graciously daily. I have seen _______,_______, and _______ and many others work as superior problem solvers and they are very kind while doing so. There are too many challenging patrons. And I love the Artists in Fiction display!

1128. I came to the library for a quiet atmosphere…the service desk staff and patron voices are MUCH too loud and carries across the entire upstairs. Library voices are NOT being used. Very distracting.

Thank you for your feedback. We know the new black design is a change, and while some cardholders love the sleek look, we understand it might not be everyone’s favorite. Our current library card design was chosen to be modern and durable, but we understand that preferences can vary. We’ll certainly keep all feedback in mind as we continue to evaluate our designs in the future.

1124. With all the attention in the news these days discussing the Constitution, perhaps a mini-course and review of civics would be helpful to adults. I would like to suggest that the GEPL consider sponsoring adult “Civics Refresher Courses” geared to adults who may have had civics long ago. I have attended a seminar by the Chief Policy and Advocacy Officer of “iCivics.” Perhaps GEPL could have a similar speaker.
Thank you for your suggestion. We will look into this organization as we consider your idea. The DAR will have two displays at GEPL in September for Constitution week, and they will be providing free copies of the Constitution and some other items to interested members of the public.
1115. Would you be able to add a keyboard for the scanner. Typing on the screen can be difficult.
The scanner and its software are proprietary to the vendor. We are unable to modify the system they provide. If you need assistance using the equipment, please ask a staff member for help.

1109. Please consider some sort of AV aid that would let a patron take photos of an open book with their cell phone. Some sort of page presser to make it easy to take a photo. Yes, you have a copy machine, but you have to pay for that and sometimes you just want to use your cell phone.

1098. The book drop off is very badly located – if you just want to drop off a book and there are people in the drive-up, there can be a long wait – should be 2 separate places.
Thank you for your comment. We do have three separate ways to drive-up and drop off. At 400 Duane Street you can return your item(s) in the stainless-steel drop-box located on the northwest corner of the building when the drive-up is in use and you do not wish to wait in line to use the second return slot which is located just past the drive-up window. And at 65 S Park Boulevard there is another stainless-steel drop-box outside for a total of three outdoor drive-up library returns.

1096. In order to have an inclusive library community either display decorations for all ethnic/religious holidays or none. As a publicly funded entity, all GE constituents should be represented. Or have a separation of “church and state.”
We had Hanukkah materials displayed on the 2nd floor, including a menorah, and we had a Celebrating with Light exhibit in the youth department that displayed Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Diwali. These were in addition to wreaths, garland, and a Christmas tree. Please let us know what you felt was missing.
1097. The Glen Ellyn Library staff are wonderful! However, I need to give a personal “shout out” to _____, who handled my passport application. My passport expired & I was incredibly nervous about attempting to get a new one because of having been divorced, remarrying & keeping my old name. ___ instructed me on the documents required for processing my application and said they could help me. Well, ___ patiently sat with me, answered all my questions and then went over my completed application. They even took a great passport photo of me!! Well, I’m happy to report that exactly 3 weeks after I filled out the application, I received my new passport. THANK YOU, ___!

1087. I am an out of Glen Ellyn proper resident. I only use online resources. I would like a lower rate on library services since I do not come into the library or Downtown Glen Ellyn. Please consider reducing rates for online senior citizens.
The rate charged is the same for everyone who lives both inside the Village proper and outside in unincorporated Glen Ellyn. Perhaps you would qualify for the Open Books, Open Doors program. Please speak to a staff member to see if you are eligible for this program.
1088. I like the decision to add more study rooms. I think this will be a big help for evening study sessions. I am wondering if the naming series will stay the same? The author’s names fit really well! If I could recommend a name for one of the new rooms, please consider Robert Jordan.
