Emerging Authors Collection

The Emerging Authors Collection offers local authors the opportunity to have their books on shelves and in circulation, receive wider exposure, and reach an audience they might not otherwise influence.

The Emerging Authors program at the Glen Ellyn Public Library was created to encourage you to express your creativity through writing. We will share local authors’ books with the community and give everyone the opportunity to read what our community members are publishing.

Writers are encouraged to take advantage of inkie.org to create and share your ebook. The Pressbooks software enables writers to convert manuscripts into a variety of ebook and print formats. In addition to our Emerging Authors collection, readers can also browse Indie Illinois to discover local authors.

Emerging Authors Collection Guidelines

  • A book’s author or publisher may donate a book written by a resident of the greater Chicago metropolitan area or which takes place in metro Chicago. The book becomes the property of the Glen Ellyn Public Library.
  • The librarian responsible for the genre or subject area of the donated book will decide whether to include the book in the collection based on its condition and perceived interest by the Glen Ellyn community.
  • If the donated book is not included in the collection, it will be given to the Friends of the Library.
  • Items in the collection will rotate and may be withdrawn according to Retention and Weeding policy.
