With the construction in the Adult Department on the 2nd floor now complete, library staff are excited to welcome everyone to browse the new space! New materials not available in early 2025 are now out on the shelves and displays. With an average of 581 visitors each day, materials are being checked out continuously as staff rush to replenish with more items!
If there is anything specific you are looking for and you don’t see it, please ask! Staff can help you find titles that you may not see on display, including items in the digital collection like audiobooks, eBooks, and items on which you can place holds and receive through our partnerships with other libraries. In 2024, 22,524 physical items were removed from the library collection, while electronic holdings of books, movies, magazines, and music grew exponentially with demand. Items like eBooks, audiobooks, movies, TV, magazines, and music are easily browsable through digital resources like Boundless , hoopla , Libby , Mango , and Kanopy .
Staff continually assess the items in the library collection, checking condition, usage, publication date, and relevancy. Items are added based on user-submitted purchase requests, via standing orders for authors you love like James Patterson and Nora Roberts, and from curated selections based on the reading interests of the community.
Please visit the 2nd floor of the library this summer to see the recent improvements made in the Adult Department! Browse the displays, wander the stacks, and don’t forget to stop at the 2nd Floor Information Desk to sign up for 2025 Summer Reading to help support our non-profit partner, Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA).
