Display and Exhibit Areas Policy

Last Revised: October 21, 2024

Community News

The library maintains a Community News bulletin board on the stairs between the 1st and 2nd floors for not-for-profit community cultural and educational interest events and programs. Library staff review and post Community News items.

Youth

The Youth department provides display cases for personal collections of children up to grade 8. The Youth staff also maintain a bulletin board that is available to display children’s art on a first come, first served basis.

Adult

The library features the art of adults and high school students on the Gallery Wall and in the display case on the 2nd floor. Adult and high school-age artists interested in displaying their art may submit an Art Display Proposal form. Preference will be given based on artists with ties to the Glen Ellyn community.

The library assesses the appropriateness of exhibits to the audience of all ages, levels of sophistication, backgrounds, and personal tastes, and reserves the right to reject any part of an exhibition or change the manner of display.

In accordance with the American Library Association’s Bill of Rights, exhibits will not be excluded because of the origin, background or views of those contributing to their creation, nor removed because of partisan or doctrinal disapproval.

Artists whose art is on the Gallery Wall and in the display case on the 2nd floor are required to sign a Display and Exhibit Area User Agreement .
